I have found a 2003 Vanquish with less than 4000km.  I am quite tempted as among other things, the car has a colour combination that i like very much and is quite hard to find.
I never had a vanquish before. I have read a lot about this, sometimes too much i feel, but it is on this forum that I always find the most valuable and interesting information.  Concerning this particular vanquish I am interested in, I would like to know the major things i need to check prior to purchasing the car.  I thank you in advance for your informed comments.

OCThe…..If your avatar picture is correct.....I have my DB4 and had 2 Vanquish .
Wonderful GT car by todays standards.....The 2003 IMHO was getting better, fit, finish and just fixing things that weren't that great from 2002.
For a non "S" 2003/2004 BEFORE almost "S" upgrade was a better car.....Your list.
UPGRADE CLUTCH KIT TO MAGNETS
FUEL PUMPS LAST DONE
COIL PACKS AND CAM COVER GASKETS
STARTER WIRE SECURED OR UPGRADED
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS
FRAME RUST / SUB SECTIONS.
Your probably going to pay 10 cents on the dollars, so its a bargain just to park on the front lawn!
Its the last hand built car and will feel it and show it.
That's a good/charming thing.
Get my book on Amazon, I make a donation for the troops and laugh.
Buy it!
Drive it!
Then drive the DB4 on a sunny Sunday afternoon…...Life is good!

I agree with Fallonator vacuum up and digest all you can find on the forum on the Vanq and if you are not put off, then regardless of the apparent condition or mileage of the car get it inspected by a specialist like David Such, M.A.S or ASL.  Whatever you do, never take a chance on a Vanq without an inspection and don't go for a main dealer inspection, those are about as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Thank you for replies and advices.  I am based in France and the very happy owner of the DB5 you can see in the picture, as well as a 1988 V8 vantage volante.   I would like to complete this little Aston Martin family (born in Newport Pagnel) with a 12 cylinder model, therefore the Vanquish.

Welcome to the Club. But you are behind and definitely no complete (yet)!
Three of a kind is good but a Flush is much better. (Some might consider that because they are Astons it is a Royal Flush.
I run a DB5, 85 V8 Volante and Vanquishes but also have a Lagonda and a DB2/4 to extend the suit so to speak.
Are you looking at a LHD or RHD car?
If LHD have you thought about buying in the USA? Cars there are WAY cheaper. I bought my US one for $50K and they can be had for less.

If that is the dark green and beige leather one at AM Paris it is very expensive - the price of a lowish mileage "S". You should absolutely ensure you have the upgrade clutch which was only standard from about December 2003 on 2004MY cars.

Sorry guys, The Frogs Are in Da Place 😎😋

So, although my French is not up to much I can see Armen explain that it is NOT a car for town (Not true if you choose gearbox like the DB9), explain about the noisy S brake bobbins (fixed if you use the D Such brake upgrade) and then wax lyrical about the noise.

Yes that's right 😉
I was telling him that the Vanquish was not made for driving in town.
It definitely needs space. In that case, that's one of the greatest GT's ever made 😍

Thank you for all the comments, merci beaucoup Armen.   yes in deed the car I am interested is the 2003 pentland green example with 3900km offered in Paris.  The car is quite expensive but it is spotless and comes with "my" favourite colour combination.    An S model in green with tan hide is not easy to find and I have been looking for quite some time.  I did miss one example offered on BAT in the usa (yes rcfurse, the vanquish offered in the US are underrated compared to europe prices) but I believe that in France we still have to pay 20% VAT when importing a car from the US.  Anyway,  i am still considering and looking, reading with attention your comments, and that is also a great part fo the fun ! Thanks again and Good day !

Mon Dieu! That's not expensive. That's obscene. I know you want that colour combo but you could buy a car, strip it, respray and retrim it and fix all the issues and still have change!

Yes, this is another option that I keep in mind.

Je te conseille de viser un modèle européen qui aura bien plus de valeur qu'une auto importée des US. Sur La Centrale il y a deux Vanquish S de 2006. Je connais les proprios et peut te mettre en relation si tu veux.

Love that color combo.  I know it is expensive, but great color combos are hard to find.  Blacks and shades of gray are a dime a dozen, especially with black interiors, neither of which I could live with.  But that's me, and it is why I paid an arm and a leg for my AMRG/Fern Green/Ferrari Cuoio combo.  Yes, you could respray/retrim some other car, but it wouldn't be the same and would lower the value of that car.  Original is original.

I very much doubt that more than 10% of DB5's are in their original colour/trim combinations. As the cars have been rebuilt owners have opted for other colours and trims.
It is probably easier/cheaper to respray a VQ than a DB5 because most of the panels come off.
All that said IMHO your taste in car colour /trim is impeccable.
