There is a Centenary Class for Astons, with the cut off date early 1970s. If a One77 wants to, we might stretch a point....
It's a great weekend at a very interesting venue with the chance of a sprint, driving tests and a Concours - you can enter what you like. Points are cunningly split so a pock marked racer trailing an oil slick is on a par with an immaculate car.
Start here : http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/double12/

""The Double Twelve is in its 5th year and everyone who has entered the event in the past has enjoyed the relaxed yet competitive atmosphere at this historic location. It's a chance to compete for the Double Twelve Trophy, one of the world's most famous competitions that dates back to the early 1920s.

If you haven't already been to the Double Twelve it is a combination of a Concours d'Elegance and driving tests for cars ranging from Veterans to modern sports cars that includes a timed ascent of the famous Test Hill as well as timed driving tests to test your driving skills on the banking and the finishing straight all located on the remaining parts of the original pre-war circuit. It's a really fascinating and fun weekend and you are welcome to take part in both parts of the event or just the concours. The concours is primarily on the Saturday and the Driving Tests on the Sunday and you are most welcome to bring your car for both days and enjoy the Brooklands experience at its best.""

These are the timings for the weekend:
Saturday:
  • Sprint practice 10am-12:30pm; timed runs 2pm - 5pm
  • Main Concours judging-10am - 1:00pm, 2pm - 5pm
  • Test Hill Challenge-11.30am - 1.00pm 3.00pm - 4:30pm

Sunday:
  • Concours judging for Sprint Entrants-10am - 1:00pm
  • Driving Tests 10am - 12:30pm, 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Prize-giving 4:15pm

Still able to accept a few entries so if you are not going to Le Mans and fancy a good day out, you'll be made very welcome.

Overall winner this year was David Bracey, Aston Martin Mk II.
There was some stiff competition but he did well in the Concours and the Driving Tests.

Thanks for reporting this John. It was an excellent weekend and everyone involved, judges, marshall's, organiser's, worked tirelessly. Huge thanks to all volunteers.

It would have been nice to see more Aston's so let's hope we can encourage more along next year.

It is important that people realise that the Double 12 isn't just about shiny unused cars. This event combines concours with driving tests or speed runs and is great for people who use their cars regularly. We didn't win concours yet still won overall because we drove the car hard in the tests.

See you next year I hope.

Best wishes,

David
