I am having trouble tracking down a replacement relay for my DB7 i6 1996. I need a Hella 4RA 003 510-88 (also labelled on the side as Aston Martin SPD 5254) but can’t find one listed anywhere. Does anyone know if there are equivalent items available - either another from Hella that does the same job or another supplier? These are in the engine compartment on the driver side (RHD). Many thanks

If you peel away the black Aston Martin sticker you will see that it is a Jaguar DAC7686.

I bought a batch from Ebay.(see link below).  New equivalents are available (I got one from Chiltern Aston) but it was black and I wanted to maintain the originality of the blue - also if you start adding different colours the relay function/location chart goes to pot.

Thank you - great tip. The car has been in and out of the garage - refusing to power the starter motor so earth straps changed, starter motor and solenoid sent to specialist for checking but problem continued - Now ordered replacement relay and on its way to me. Swapping the relay cured the problem - wish I had known that in the first place cost £3.99 instead of a £600+ bill.

I had exactly the same thing.

Fortunately I tried new starter relay first and it cured it.  I also had relay failure on the aircon.  I think the relays are getting on a bit, so always my first port of call with a problem (and one of the few things I am capable of dealing with myself!).

Yes I’m fast coming to the same conclusion - I think that it’s going to be worth having a few spares put by just in case.

I have always kept a spare in my XJS. That same relay has failed twice in the last 10 years.
