LAGONDAFEST!
10 years
Gstaad, Switzerland

THE LAGONDAFEST 2015 STARTS IN ONE MONTH!! Is your car ready? Only one more month before Lagondas all over Europe start their engines to meet in Switzerland! We will meet on Thursday 27.8. between 11.30 and 12.30 at Emil Frei Classic Center ( http://www.emilfreyclassics.ch ) next to the new home of Roos Engineering, Aston Martin Heritage Center. The address for your navigation system is : Bahnhofstrasse 14, 5745  Safenwil. Please arrive on time as we intend to enjoy a wonderful drive in convoy from Safenwil to Gstaad.

The farewell of our meeting will be on Sunday 30.8. between 13.00 and 14.00 at Arthur Sutsch’s place in 1715 Alterswil. I have been asked about the need to take Swiss money with you. Allthough the Euro is no more accepted everywhere in Switzerland, there is no real need to take Swiss money with you. All the entry fees, all the food and most of the beverages are included in your entry fee. Beverages: Included are soft drinks for breakfast, lunch and dinner and champagne and wine for dinner. We do not serve any alcohol for breakfast or lunch because of careful driving, but you can order it at your expenses if you wish to. The alcohol at the bar and stronger alcohols can also be ordered at your expense. ! Fuel is normally paid by credit card and I will advise you which fuel stations would be best to use. The „Autobahnvignette“ is best bought at the customs for 40 CHF or Euro.

Registration is still open on http://www.lagondafest.com. There are only few rooms left in our hotel, so hurry up if you would like to join us!

Soon we will start the Lagonda engines again!
The organizers are looking very much forward to meet you soon in Switzerland!

We expect you on thursday 27.8. between 11.30 and 12.30 at the Emil Frey Classics Center, Bahnhofstrasse 14, 5745 Safenwil, Switzerland. Parking is reserved at the interior courtyard.
There, we will be able to visit the new classic car museum, the Swiss Classic Car register, the Emil Frey Classics sales room and will have a tour of the very new facilities of Roos Engineering, the Aston Martin Heritage Center. We might have a surprise there, too for you!

Please refuel the car before coming to Safenwil. There are fuel stations after the exit of the Autobahn.

We will leave Safenwil around 14.00 direction Gstaad. This drive will be long ( 2 hours ) same as the last drive on sunday. But we look at it as part of your journey to the event and would like to show you a wonderful way to get into and out of the mountains! The drives on friday and saturday will be beautiful, but short! The detailed program you will receive in your room in Gstaad.

If you can not make it to Safenwil, and you drive directly to Gstaad, please inform me.
If you can not make it on sunday to the farewell lunch ( 12.oo to 14.00 ) in 1715 Alterswil at Arthur Sutsch’s collection, please inform me, too!

There are people attending without a Lagonda who might travel during the event in a Lagonda, if you have seats available in your car, please inform me.

Attached is a file with some useful informations.

A bit more background & information. etc.

Congratulations & thanks again to Zoran for organising such a wonderful meeting.

Thanks too to Arthur, Francis and Urs for their important contributions, to Beat Roos & Rene Gauch for their hospitality and assistance,  to Mark Gauntlett & Tina Brenner for bringing a Taraf, to the ladies who were also involved, Priska, Petra, Lise, Renata and Nadja. This could not have been achieved without them and last but not least to our photographer Vladan Elakovic
http://vladanfoto.weebly.com/

Just to refresh our memories, briefly:

Thursday 27th August
We met at midday at the new premises of Emil Frey/Roos Engineering at Safenwil where we had lunch and a tour. We drove through the Simmental to our accommodation the Grand Bellevue Hotel in Gstaad where we had a fine dinner.

Friday 28th August
We drove a scenic route to Gruyere where we visited the castle and the Giger Museum followed by a local lunch. In the afternoon we visited the Cailler chocolate factory before returning to the hotel by an alternative route. In the evening we enjoyed a fondue in the Roessli Hotel in Gstaad.

Saturday 29th August
We visited a local military airfield where there was an airshow and we were allowed to tour a Swiss military bunker complex inside the mountain. After lunch there we went up the Wispile cable car in Gstaad and enjoyed fine views of the mountains.

The new Taraf was at the hotel for all to see courtesy of Aston Martin.

In the evening we had our Gala Dinner in the Gstaad Yacht Club. Impressive surroundings. Alpenhorns to greet us. Fine food and wine. Natalia Wohler sang and provided the music.
Prizes were awarded and gifts were given. It was a great party.

Sunday morning via a scenic route (for some) we visited Arthur’s property in Alterswil , viewed his collection and had a fine Swiss lunch before departing.

Michael kindly mentioned our friend Sieghard a Lagonda owner in Lindau and founder participant in 2005 but who could not be with us. Sieghard suffered a severe stroke in 2014 and is making a slow recovery. We send him our best wishes.

Our commiserations go to Michael & Gina for the failure of their Lagonda Coupe and to Johan for his DB7. Hopefully both can be repaired soon.

The sun shone and we consumed a lot of Swiss cheese! Marvellous!

Nicole & I had the pleasure of travelling to and from Switzerland with David & Sue, Keith and Val and Robert. Perfect company. It would not be the same without them. Thanks to them too.

We got together with old friends and met new ones. The Lagonda family is alive and well.

Let’s not to forget the charity auction! The Lagonda family excelled themselves again.

Thanks to:
Johan Balijon
Thomas Drechsler
Christoph Zitzmann
Michael von Aretin
Johan Hamid

the incredible sum of 12 000 Euro was raised. Aston Martin offered for auction a visit to the Q factory.  Francis de Leeuw conducted the auction like a professional. The full sum goes to the charity foundation:
http://www.swissaidscare.ch
Zoran knows their founders personally and the full sum will be used for an extremely good cause in Africa.

Next year in Belgium!

Zoran and his photographer have produced a book of the 2015 Lagondafest.  Fond memories of Gstaad and maybe destined to become a bestseller.

It can be obtained here.
