SHOOTING IN STYLE
21-22 October 2006
To follow up from the ‘Pull Again’ thread on the old forum and the ‘Aston Shoot’ on this one, this is an update on the arrangements so far for what promises to be a very agreeable ‘Shooting In Style’ event.
Although final details are yet to be confirmed, it is the intention to hold the ‘Shooting In Style’ event at a Manor House in the countryside around Stow on the Wold, over the weekend 21-22 October. The Saturday activities will be centred on Clay Pigeon Shooting, but should also involve archery and a falconry demonstration. All levels of experience are welcome, particularly complete novices, who wish to have an introduction to Clay Pigeon Shooting. There will be an informal competition (with teams formed on the basis of car ownership?), with prizes for the best team and individual. We’ll probably also have a ‘wooden spoon’ trophy (which is the only one I’m likely to win!).
Following our country sports day, we will retire to the Manor House for a good social gathering and evening meal. After a relaxed start to Sunday, we can round off the weekend with a bit of hovercraft and Argocat (6x6 amphibious vehicle) driving, before taking to our Aston’s for the drive home after a ‘Shooting In Style’ weekend.
Full itinerary is (subject to final confirmation):
- 09:30 – Arrive at Manor House
- 10:00 – Aston Martin group photograph in front of Manor House
- 10:30 – Shooting; tuition, practice & competition.
- 12:30 - Team flush (5-6 man team shooting at a flurry of 40-50 clays over a 3 minute time period - great fun and very exciting!)
- 13:00 – Lunch & Prize Giving
- 14:30 – 17:00 – Divide into groups for archery and falconry activities
- 19:30 – Dinner
- 10:00 – 12:00 – Divide into groups for hovercraft and Agrocat driving
Target cost for the whole weekend is £420. However, for those who do not wish to partake of the full weekend, we can offer just the Saturday programme for a target price of £150. In addition, it will be possible to organise other variants such as cheaper hotel accommodation. Please contact me to discuss any particular ideas or requirements.
So we can gauge the level of interest of the ‘Shooting In Style’ weekend, please could I ask those people who like to join in with this event to register their interest with me (on the forum or email@example.com ) stating which option they would like (one day or full weekend).
This does have the potential to be a really special weekend (or Saturday), and look forward to meeting lots of Aston owners at what does promise to be a great ‘Shooting In Style’ event.
