"A new supercar and classic car show has been left in jeopardy due to unforeseen circumstances – and now the owner of the venue is appealing for help.
Stonor Supercar Sunday is set to take place on May 20 at the 850-year-old Stonor Park, near Henley-on-Thames, in the Chiltern Hills. More than 2000 tickets have already been sold, and 60 cars confirmed, but a line-up of supercars is now needed to complete the star attraction.
As William Stonor, the 29th successive custodian of Stonor Park, says, 'There can’t be a more dramatic spot for a car display then our sweeping front lawn in the heart of the Chiltern Hills.'
Now William is asking supercar owners, groups and clubs if they can bring their cars to the show to reinstate the supercar line-up.
The idea of the new show is for it to be a relaxed day out for car lovers of all ages, with picnics in the park, street food and lots to see and do including Stonor’s Wonder Woods Adventure Playground for children. Money raised at the show will go to The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Children's Fund.
'My grandfather purchased the first of only ten exceptionally rare Squire Motor cars in 1935
as well as one of the first Jaguar E-types off the production line and so there’s definitely a lot
of motoring history at Stonor,' says William, 'The beauty of a car show is that it appeals to
children of all ages!'"
