wey hey !!! away we go again.
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case, coincidence ? i think not.

I should be in - car is almost ready (how many times did I say that?) and otherwise I'll join Johan or Martine. Heard rumors about Spain!

keith and i are looking at that but it depends on the timescale of what people want to do. spain from us is a very long way for a three day round trip.
we would need to extend it to maybe 5 or 6 so there is food for thought.
i dont know if people fancy that duration.
i dont mind.

an alternative we have looked at is honfluer on the west coast of france. within easy reach for most and well known by keith and myself that we could together some interesting ways there and things to do for the drive out day.

still all very open to chat about as ever

Yes, agree, Spain is a long way. I'll alert Johan (and his Spanish friend) and Martine to this conversation. Normandy would be fun too. Think its time for NL to organize?

I have been looking at routes in the northern part of Spain which is accessible by ferry. However the amount of time spend one way or another to get there and back is significant compared to the total trip. West coast of France is fine with me for sure. It is indeed the Dutch to organise

France - retracing Bond's route in Goldfinger :-) Been done before but I wouldn't mind. Need to be in Europe on 11th June so around then would be ideal.

1600 miles round trip. Bond did leave from Southend though so some of us may get as far as Rikki's.

I would advise you to avoid the first week in June in Normandy. I tried to set up a little tour for a local group of South Coast enthusiasts and found that nearly all the hotels were already booked a that time. The reason is because it is the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings and there will be a lot going on.

If we choose Normandy I can involve Sjak, since he used to live there.
But any destination is fine by me

Possibly I am pretty flexible to organize stuff from January and onwards, since I will be quitting my daytime job and probably making the leap to freelancing (before I move to the US, but that's another story  ;D)

Do we want to do the trip in spring, mid summer or late summer?

Film locations: Goldfinger

we could do to Orleans and back. If not June, then late summer works best for me.

No preference for me.

How about a nice 3 country trip? Netherlands(limburg), Belgium(Ardennes), Germany(Eifel) Easily accessible. Happy to organize but as one of the Viagra initiators it would be back to the roots (Virages in all guises only).

If we fancy that part of the world then leave it to me as i have been there about 50 times at least and have organised so many bike trips i cant remember.
keith also well versed with it as he golfs there all the time as well.
i doubt there is a hotel or restaurant i havent eaten in and was there for five days in june this year alone.
ok i need numbers now and any dates that might be good
i will start with the usual cut and paste

Russell + Jo
Keith + his right hand
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case, coincidence ? i think not.

Ok, so that means no more Johan, Martine and me, I guess.

Wouldn't be the same without you all.

geographically would be being further south in honfluer pick up any others in that neck of the woods that want to come and celebrate the virage

My preference is definitely to explore a bit of La France. Don't see why we should now restrict back Virage only.
I would expect we would get some French members on board as well when touring there. Time wise on second thought June has my preference.

Otherwise its just an other AM event. I like the setup of the Lagonda tour, just Lagonda's which makes it so special.

unless you come in a Virage(derivate) or as a co-driver. Nothing personal. I just want the event to be more specific and not just another AM event.

Hey Milo,
I understand your reasoning. I was the one who "hijacked" the event and turned it into a V8 thing. (With the occasional V12 tagging along, but it's not like anyone could hear that  *ahem*)

Most people come with their own co-driver, so it would exclude people who don't own a Virage. Also, the group might be very small if you do Virage only. Last 2 editions with the V8's I think we had a nice amount of signups.

Location wise: I also prefer a bit further down south, like France.

Far from me to impose myself. Have fun.

Hey, we've been waiting for the DBS to be finished! The tour wouldn't be the same without all.

Take Russ for instance, now has a Vanquish but no Virage, and Martine has been there since the start, and Jeroen has a Merc!!.

Let's get the merry band back together again.

She had a good test drive this week. The cylinder heads needed to come off after a valve bent during her maiden voyage in summer. Turned out the valve seats weren't at the correct tolerances. That took time, as always, but its now all good, the garage tells me. So, unless something else blows up, I am ready to rumble. For me, ideally May/June but otherwise September/October would work well for me too.
But I saw what Milo is saying so I think the Viragisti need to decide amongst themselves where it is an open event or a closed one.

Well as keith says if its Virage only i wont be able to come. i don't own one. sad but true enough.
i get what milo is saying we should encourage others with virages to come as thats what it was about and we shouldnt lose sight of that but there have been some great memories from all the trips and to be honest it has always been about the people to me.

I'm with you. As I know Martine and Johan will be. I guess in the end the one who organized makes the call.
