Jeroen
The Virage In All Guises Road Association (VIAGRA) has today announced the date of its first official annual meeting. The VIAGRA Event 2008 will take place in the scenic Province of Zeeland, the Netherlands, from Friday the 25th until Sunday the 27th of April 2008.

The VIAGRA is the legal successor of both the British Registered RHD In Top Nick Only Virage Drivers Club and the Dutch Registered LHD Cannock Black Virage Enthusiasts Club, which - maybe due to their somewhat confusing names - never achieved the following the Aston Martin Virage and its derivatives deserve. With the new strong name we hope to have rectified this: VIAGRA, the Aston Martin Virage needs all the support it can get!

The VIAGRA Event 2008 will centre around those things the members of VIAGRA value highly, namely: good company, good food and the Aston Martin Virage and its (generally more appreciated) offspring (the V8 Coupé and V8 Volante as well as the supercharged Vantage). If you own one of the type of cars mentioned you are more than welcome to join the event.

The program will be roughly as follows.

In the afternoon of Friday the 25th of April 2008 we'll assemble in Goes, the Netherlands, a lovely old city which is about a two hours drive from Calais, for one or two welcome drinks. In the evening there will be an exquisite diner in one of the fine (seafood) restaurants of Goes.

On Saturday we'll tour the magnificently beautiful Province of Zeeland, which is famous for its shellfood (lobsters, oysters, cockles and mussels), its "Delta Works" (www.deltawerken.com), its unspoilt landscapes (Zeeland is home to the largest Dutch National Park, National Park Oosterschelde, http://www.npoosterschelde.nl), its lovely old cities and villages, as well as (with the Belgians especially) its world class seafood restaurants (including some famous Michelin star owning restaurants, even one of the very few three star owning ones). In the evening another superb dinner is on the menu, as well as lots of unashamed car talk and Virage breakdown stories exchanging.

After a good night's sleep and a heartily breakfast there will be another scenic drive in the direction of Calais, so we can have lunch together somewhere along the Belgium coast. After that we'll say goodbye and see you next year (or at Le Mans or some other AMOC event).

The VIAGRA Event 2008 will be set up in a way that it doesn't matter how many people will join. The more the merrier of course, but if it stays with the four of us that is fine by us as well. We just thought it might interest some of you too. If so, you are very welcome!

The only costs related to the VIAGRA Event 2008 will be those of the lunches and dinners and the hotel.

Regarding hotels, we suggest using Grand Café - Hotel Jersey, a three star hotel, situated right alongside the centuries old market square of Goes (www.grandcafejersey.nl) which is within walking distance from the proposed restaurant where we'll dine on Friday (www.stadsschuur.nl).

If you want to join the VIAGRA Event 2008, then please register your interest here on this thread before January 1st. There is no need to be afraid that by doing so you've irrevocably committed yourself: you haven't. We'll send all of those who registered their interest here an e-mail, requesting them to explicitly commit themselves, so we can make the required bookings.

If you have any questions, please post them here, so others can read them, as well as our answers.

Please note that the VIAGRA Event 2008 is not an official AMOC event, nor a commercial enterprise in any way. It's just a meeting of like minded petrolheads.

The VIAGRA Event 2008 is organised by:
Jeroen (Jeroen Ammerlaan)
Geewizzpip (Keith Artus)
Milog (Milo Gelissen)
Russell (Russell Harding)

How refreshing that there will be an event for Aston Martin owners covering a range from two to six headlights

I'd like to register my interest and will be attending with Holly the Volante

nice one tim and we trust you will bring the machinery to record the event for prosperity.
to have a LWB with us would be an honour and yet another variant of a magnificient car.
come on you virage owners get your names down for the largest collection of virage cars seen together outside of a breakers yard.
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case, coincidence ? i think not.

All holliday has been cancelled for the Dutch vehicle recovery industry that weekend then.

Oh dear ... an Aston event in the lowlands and I don't have a Virage (or any of its offspring)  :'(

I think I will just have to gate-crash (at least I have a qualifying number of headlights - some of which even work ... sometimes !).

The Netherlands is a very tolerant country, but I'm not sure we're ready for Russel in his lycra spiderman outfit  !

Just inform the innocent bystanders of the fact that Russell is a very thorough location scout for the upcoming spiderman sequel (that will feature an Aston as the spiders wheels..) >
Pretty sure he will be instantly accepted. They might even ask him for an autograph ;D

Sounds great. I'd love to gatecrash, thanks for the invite.

It would be great to see a line-up of all of them:
Virage
Volante (wide and narrow body, normal and LWB)
6.3
Vantage
Vantage 600
V600 LM (plus Volante)
V8 Coupe
four door "Lagonda"
Virage shooting brake

plus any more I've missed. They may not have sold many in the early 90s, but they were certainly creative!

funny enough out of those going we do have a real wide variety of the models with i believe a (concourse winning) virage saloon, virage volante, wide body volante and a rare long wheel base volante but we are short of the later versions so come on you coupe and TSC owners lets have a full bag of the era on the trip.
a shooting brake would be really cool, a coupe, a V550, a V600 and a le mans would make the trip a full house so where are you. get out the closet and support the viagra run.

i think rikki cann is already booking his next year caribbean holiday on the strength of this trip so lets not dissapoint him.

i am ironing my best lycra suit now....

... don't set the iron too hot (you don't want any embarrasing burn-holes  ).

Also, don't worry about coming out of the closet ... this is the Netherlands we are talking about ;D .

I'm certainly interested. Anne and I could possibly bring either the wide bodied 6.3 Volante or the '97 V8 Coupe. However I cannot commit firmly at this time. Also, I have a big question...Does the hotel have secure parking?

nice one lawrie good to have you aboard and astro whatever you want to bring would be fine with us as if its a proper 6.3 then we have neither cars. mine alas is a sheep in wolves clothing.
l have always found that if the cars are en masse there is little chance of any disturbance from others.  its when you park just one up that the risks suddenly increase.

Peter, Russell I will e-mail you (and the other possible participants) the details about the proposed secure parking. Otherwise it wouldn't be  secure, would it?  ;D

Hi Jeroen,

I will also be there , probably on the saturday. I can't be there the whole weekend, but it would be nice to meet all the people of
the Virage forum, and have a nice drive in the Zeeland countryside with some "soulmates" and their Virages.
Can you please keep me updated by email if you have finalised your planning.
For the records : mine is (another) Virage Volante 1997 - one of the last built.

Thanks,

Koen.
